DTE Grand River Public Space – Beacon Park’s Lumen Restaurant
NSC completed the installation of the finish carpentry package at Beacon Park’s Lumen restaurant. This package included the custom wood baffle ceiling, ipe ship lap siding, and custom millwork. With over 50% of the building’s exterior walls being constructed of glass folding partition, the ceiling baffles and the ship lap siding had to be installed to perfectly align. The interior baffles and exterior ship lap siding were installed so the lines flowed through the glass partitions creating a single interior and exterior space. The rough-in layout of the substructure and MEP was carefully coordinated to work with the wood ceiling finishes. This early rough-in included all the MEP, rough carpentry (grid ceiling framing with plywood substrate), Unistrut support system (for the wood baffles), and fabric wrapped panels. The ship lap siding totaled approximately 1,200 SQFT, with no area larger than 200 SQFT without a change in plain or angle.
